Bears announce Gholston signing, 10 others

The Bears are hoping to salvage the career of Jets castoff Vernon Gholston, the sixth overall pick in the 2008 draft.

Gholston, who was released by the Jets in March, agreed to with the Bears on Friday, and the team confirmed it has agreed to terms with 10 other players.

The Bears announced the additions of DT Anthony Adams, Gholston, WR Sam Hurd, P Adam Podlesh, LB Nick Roach, TE Matt Spaeth, RB Will Ta'ufo'ou and WR Roy Williams.

Chicago also re-signed restricted free-agent QB Caleb Hanie and exclusive-rights free agents RB Kahlil Bell and C-OG Edwin Williams.

Roy Williams, a former Cowboy and Lion, Gholston, Ta'ufo'ou, Hanie, Bell and Edwin Williams agreed to one-year deals, while Adams and Roach will return on two-year deals. Hurd and Spaeth signed three-year deals, and Podlesh's contract is for five years.
