FOX Sports is reporting that Saints have found their replacement for Reggie Bush in former Chargers RB Darren Sproles.
The Saints signed Sproles, 28, to a two-year contract.
Sproles was left to choose between returning to the Chargers, signing with the Eagles and going to New Orleans. He chose the latter to replace Bush, who was traded to the Dolphins earlier on Thursday.
In San Diego, Sproles handled third-down duty and was at times an explosive returner. He's expected to assume both roles with the Saints as well.
The way we see it
Sproles is an underrated blitz pick-up specialist and receiver (he has had TD catches of 66, 81 and 57 yards the past three seasons), which makes him an ideal fit in the Saints' passing game. He also was a good punt and kick returner, so at least in that regard, he'll be more valuable than Bush.
