The Patriots will release DT Marcus Stroud on Thursday, PFW correspondent and Boston Herald writer Ian Rapoport reported. The team signed Stroud just before the lockout began.
According to Rapoport, Stroud's injured shoulder had not healed.
The 33-year-old played in 15 games with 14 starts for the Bills last season, recording 49 tackles and three sacks.
The Patriots acquired former Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth in a trade early Thursday morning.
The way we see it
The Haynesworth trade certainly makes it easier for the Patriots to part ways with Stroud, especially if he's not at 100 percent. The D-line needed more depth and experience, and with Ty Warren and Mike Wright back from injuries, Stroud still would have had to work to find time on the field.
