Milwaukee-based media outlets are reporting that the Packers have decided to part ways with DE Justin Harrell and LB Brady Poppinga — a pair of defenders coming off season-ending injuries.

In his four years with the Packers, Harrell, a former first-round draft pick, played in only 14 games. He was a nonfactor on last year's Super Bowl team after suffering a torn ACL in the season opener at Philadelphia.

Poppinga had one sack in limited action last season before suffering a season-ending injury in Week Six — the second serious knee injury of his career.

The way we see it

Harrell is one of the few bad personnel mistakes made by Packers GM Ted Thompson. But his first-round pedigree could result in a few fliers from potentially interested suitors. The same goes for Poppinga, who could still be a serviceable fill-in with good experience, entering his seventh season. But both players' injury issues continue to be cause for concern.
