A day after it was reported the Bears were actively looking to trade TE Greg Olsen, a report states that the team traded the former first-round pick to the Panthers in exchange for a 2012 third-round draft choice. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune first reported the deal on Thursday afternoon.

Olsen was a productive player for the Bears, but seemed out of place last season in coordinator Mike Martz's offense. He recorded just 41 catches — his lowest total since his rookie year — and gained a career-low 9.9 yards per reception.

Earlier Thursday, the Bears signed TE Matt Spaeth and released TE Brandon Manumaleuna. In addition to their reported trade for Olsen, the Panthers have added TE Jeremy Shockey and Ben Hartsock since the end of last season.
