The Falcons announced Thursday they agreed to a five-year deal to re-sign LB Stephen Nicholas.

A fourth-round pick in the 2007 draft, Nicholas has 215 career tackles in Atlanta. In 2010, he played in all 16 games with 11 starts, recording 78 tackles, two passes defensed and an interception.

The Falcons also agreed to terms LB Mike Peterson, he announced on his Twitter. Peterson started 13 games last season, recording 59 tackles and two interceptions. He has 18 career picks and 21½ career sacks in 12 seasons.
