The Lions agreed to terms with former Jaguars LB Justin Durant on a two-year contract, Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reported.

In his four seasons with the Jags, Durant started 42 games and recorded 272 tackles. He has never played all 16 games in a season. In 2010, Durant recorded 55 tackles in 10 games and two passes defensed. The Jaguars were not expected to bring back Durant.

The way we see it

Durant will likely compete for a starting OLB job with the Lions, who have one surefire starter in DeAndre Levy, who could play in the middle or outside. Linebacker and cornerback were Detroit's top defensive needs as the negotiating period began.
