The Patriots have agreed to re-sign veteran RB Sammy Morris to a one-year deal, his agent Mark Slough announced on Twitter.
Morris rushed for 56 yards while appearing in all 16 games in 2010, making his mark mainly on special teams. He has spent the last four seasons with the Patriots, rushing for 727 yards in 2008.
Morris, 34, is one of five running backs on the Patriots' roster.

This is a bit of a surprise, as if the Patriots were to re-sign a veteran back, the assumed running back would be Kevin Faulk. They may still bring Faulk back, and the two could compete to be the fifth back on the roster behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Danny Woodhead and a pari of rookies.
