The Patriots informed CB Tony Carter they will release him, Fox31's Josina Anderson reported Tuesday morning. The move will not be official until waivers begin on Thursday at 4:01 p.m. ET.

The way we see it
This comes as no surprise. Carter would have been a long shot to make the roster, especially considering the Pats added CB Ras-I Dowling in the second round of April's draft and another defensive back, Malcolm Williams, in the seventh round.
