In another cost-cutting move, the Cowboys informed RB Marion Barber on Tuesday afternoon that he will be cut. The news was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Barber struggled last season after being passed on the depth chart by Felix Jones, rushing for just 3.3 yards per carry and four touchdowns, both career lows. The sixth-year veteran also was less of a factor making receptions out of the backfield, finishing 2010 with just 11 catches for 49 yards.
Dallas drafted RB DeMarco Murray in the third round of the draft, and his role becomes more important with Barber gone. The team also has Tashard Choice in the backfield.
