Quintin Mikell was cut by one team and agreed to terms with another on Tuesday, although neither move will be official until Friday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Rams plucked Mikell off the Eagles' chopping block, signing him to a four-year deal.

"I want to thank all of my fans for the awesome support. It's been great playing for Philly. But it's time to move on," Mikell wrote on his Twitter account. "I'm very excited for the chance to play with a very dangerous and up and coming team. I'm a Ram now!"

Mikell has spent all eight seasons in the NFL with the Eagles, picking off 10 career passes. He started 15 games last season and recorded a career-high 15 passes defensed.

The Rams released S O.J. Atogwe just before the lockout.

The way we see it

Mikell is expected to start at safety for the Rams, likely alongside Craig Dahl. He brings experience and is an immediate upgrade to the Rams' secondary.
