The Bears have informed P Brad Maynard he will not be-re-signed, according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

Maynard, a 15th-year NFL veteran, has been with the Bears since 2001. He struggled last season after undergoing offseason hip surgery. The recovery affected him during the season and he finished with a career-low punting average (40.1 yards).

The team signed Richmond McGee to a two-year contract in February and will likely allow the 28-year-old to compete for Maynard's old job. A free agent punter is also expected to be brought in to battle McGee in training camp.
