Reports: Jets WR Edwards pleads guilty to DWI

Jets WR Braylon Edwards has pleaded guilty to a DWI charge, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

Edwards, who will forego a trail, now faces a $500 fine and a six-month license suspension, according to Jenny Vrentas of The (Newark) Star-Ledger. Edwards could also be subject to discipline under the NFL's sustance-abuse policy.

Peter Frankel, Edwards' attorney, told The Star-Ledger his client wants to resolve the case before reaching free agency. 

"He's been waiting for this period of his life for a long time," Frankel said, according to the paper. "He wants to put any negativity behind him

Edwards was reportedlt pulled over on Sept. 21 because the windows of his car were too dark. His alcohol level was twice the legal limit, according to police, but Edwards had denied driving drunk.

Edwards, who caught 53 passes for 904 yards and seven touchdowns last season, is set to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins.
