Lions OLT Jeff Backus could miss the start of training camp after recently suffering a left pectoral injury, the Detroit Free Press reported.

A team source told the paper that the injury, believed to be a partially torn muscle, is not serious, but Backus might not be ready for the start of training camp.

The veteran has started 160 consecutive games since entering the league in 2001, the fourth longest streak among active players (behind Peyton Manning, Tiki Barber and London Fletcher). The Lions could be missing both tackles when camp begins, as ORT Gosder Cherilus is coming off microfracture knee surgery.

It is not clear when or how the injury occurred. Backus, nor his agent, commented to the paper about the injury.
