The Jets hired former Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore as a consultant, the New York Post reported.
Moore spent time with Rex Ryan and the rest of the Jets' coaching staff in April and June.
"Rex and I go way back," Moore told The Post Thursday. "We've had some great games against each other. I just have so much respect for Rex and his staff and the organization. When he made the offer, I couldn't refuse it."
Moore, 72, spent 12 seasons with the Colts, serving most of his tenure as the team's offensive coordinator and play-caller. He was in a consulting role with the team last season.
"I want to keep involved in the game," he said. "I'm 72 years young. I want to keep involved. This gives me a chance. … It's great."
The way we see it
Moore should be able to help the Jets with the development of QB Mark Sanchez as well as the red-zone offense, something he originally consulted the Jets' staff on back in April.
