The Minnesota legislature, which is trying to finalize the state's budget, will not consider a bill for a new Vikings stadium in a special session slated for next week, the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune reported Friday.

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf reportedly called Minnesota governor Mark Dayton on Friday to ask that the stadium bill be taken up in the special legislative session. However, lawmakers have said they want to focus upon signing the budget bill into law, according to the Star Tribune. Many state governmental functions shut down on July 1 when legislators couldn't agree to a budget.

"We will have a vote on [the stadium bill] and we'll work to get it passed," Julie Rosen, a Republican state senator who is sponsoring the stadium legislation, told the Star Tribune. "But if I tried to get a vote on it right now, I'd be strung up."

State lawmakers announced Thursday that a tentative budget agreement had been reached.
