49ers general manager Trent Baalke would like to keep the majority of his team's pending free agents, according to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News.

In a 36-minute interview with Kawakami, Baalke added that he didn't think the 49ers would be a big player in the free-agency market and that he expects teams that jump at players too fast could wind up hurting themselves.

Among other topics, Baalke added that head coach Jim Harbaugh would be involved in the team's free-agency decisions and that he was happy to see QB Alex Smith leading player workouts during the offseason.
