Former NFL and Cleveland Browns executive Bill Hampton Jr. died on Wednesday night after suffering a heart attack.

Hampton Jr., who was on his way to the airport following the ESPY Awards, was just 51 years old.

After leaving NFL Properties in 1999, Hampton Jr. joined the Browns' staff, and he eventually was named the team's vice president of operations. He most recently was working for Under Armour after leaving the Browns in 2006.
