The new, $18 million Metrodome roof is expected to be completed by its target date, Aug. 1, and should be inflated within a week, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Around 100 of the 106 panels have been installed, according to the paper. The Vikings have a home preseason game scheduled for Aug. 27 against the Cowboys under the new roof at Mall of America Field.

According to the report, the Metrodome turf will not need to be replaced.

A December storm damaged the Metrodome roof, forcing the Vikings to play two home games outside their home stadium.
