With the news surfacing earlier this week that players with four and five years of accrued service will be unrestricted free agents under the guidelines of the new CBA, some teams will be impacted more than others. The effect on the Jaguars should be minimal, the way we hear it. The two biggest names that will become UFAs, OLB Justin Durant and WR Mike Sims-Walker, are not expected to return, with Sims-Walker being informed by the club before the lockout that it was heading in a different direction. The other two players who will become unrestricted are QB Trent Edwards and P Adam Podlesh. Following the drafting of QB Blaine Gabbert and re-signing of backup QB Luke McCown before the lockout began, it is clear Edwards is not in the team's plans. We hear the club would like to bring back Podlesh, who is coming off his best season, in which he had a net average of 39.2 yards and 26 punts downed within the 20-yard line, for the right price.
