The Giants are set to hire former NFL LB and special-teams standout Larry Izzo as an assistant special-teams coach, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Izzo, who turns 37 in September, is a three-time Pro Bowler who last played with the Jets in 2009, where he suffered a career-ending neck injury. He has 163 career tackles. He played his first five years with the Dolphins before signing with the Patriots in 2001. He played eight seasons in New England, where he won three Super Bowls.
Izzo will replace Thomas McGaughey, who joins the staff at LSU.
