Nearly a week after the NFL began an investigation into an adult expo advertisement that featured photos of NFL players, the owner of the pornography company has issued a statement addressing the issue.

The ad was posted in May for the Exxxotica Expo 2011 in Miami and showed pictures of five active players: Chiefs DBs Brandon Flowers and Eric Berry, Texans CB Kareem Jackson, Raiders WR Jacoby Ford and Bears S Major Wright. The players are listed as hosts of the party, along with adult entertainers.

Victory Tradeshow management, which runs the Exxxotica Expo, said it had already taken action to remove the players and images from the ads before receiving a cease-and-desist letter from the NFL, according to the National Football Post.

"EXXXOTICA and/or Victory Tradeshow Management was not the producers or promoters of the party in question," the company said in a statement. "The event was listed as an "Official After Party" of EXXXOTICA Miami Beach due in part to a licensing agreement to use the Expo's trademark, but there was no knowledge of the alleged involvement of the players or use of any images in question. Once discovered, all offending ads were promptly removed."

Lawyers for Victory Tradeshow also sent a letter to the NFL explaining the confusion, according to the Post.

"While it was indeed billed as an 'Official EXXXOTICA After Party' my client had no part in choosing or providing any of the various photos for the marketing materials including those of the various players in their NFL uniforms," writes lawyer Michael W. Fattorosi. "Who provided those photographs remain a mystery to my client. My client merely provided a digital image of their mark, 'EXXXOTICA,' to the promoters and nothing else."
