It's way too early to say what will make or break a team's season, considering the NFL isn't exactly sure when the 2011 season will begin. But it's safe to say that the Chiefs will not meet their high expectations if two former top-five draft picks don't produce at an elite level. DRE Glenn Dorsey, the fifth pick of the 2008 draft, and DLE Tyson Jackson, the third pick in '09, are going to need to improve, especially as pass rushers, in order for Kansas City to remain atop the AFC West. The former teammates at LSU combined for only three sacks in ’10, a shockingly low number for two starting defensive linemen, even in a 3-4 defense. With double-teams likely coming at OLB Tamba Hali on a regular basis, both Dorsey and Jackson will have the chance to make plays one-on-one to collapse the pocket. Dorsey has tweeted during the offseason that he has been getting in better shape, and the Chiefs are hopeful he and Jackson will be in top form right away, especially given their lack of depth elsewhere on the defensive line.
