The Redskins have hired Kyle Smith as the team's area scout for the Southwest region. Smith will take over for Chip Flanagan, who is moving to cover the Southeast region for the franchise.

Smith was a scouting intern with the Redskins in 2010 after playing at Youngstown State University from 2002-05. He was signed by the Vikings for part of the 2006 offseason, and also spent time in NFL Europa, the AFL and CFL.
