Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth said the team has "moved on" from veteran QB Carson Palmer and is prepared for life without him.

In an appearance on NFL Network, Whitworth said, "(Palmer is) the kind of guy when he says something, he means it. I feel like people are taking him seriously and we're prepared. He made a decision he feels is best for him and his family and we've moved on."

Palmer, the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NFL draft, has spent all seven seasons of his career with the Bengals. He has said he will retire if he's not traded, but Bengals owner Mike Brown has stood firm that he will not trade the team's signalcaller. The Bengals drafted QB Andy Dalton in the second round of April's draft.

"We're just really excited to have (Dalton). We're happy he's with us. He's got the personality, kind of like Drew Brees," Whitworth said.

The way we see it

Brown and head coach Marvin Lewis have said the team would welcome Palmer back, but few, if any, believe that is a possibility, and the team has put its confidence behind Dalton. For Whitworth, a veteran and the team's player rep, to say that the team has moved on gives more reason to believe Palmer's days in Cincinnati are done and that it's Dalton's team now.
