The Vikings will prepare first-round pick Christian Ponder as if he will be their starting quarterback whenever the season opens. That obviously could change, depending on whether the Vikings pursue a veteran who could challenge Ponder for a starting job. But based on the way head coach Leslie Frazier is talking, it should shock no one if Ponder is the Week One quarterback when the Vikings face the Chargers — assuming the lockout doesn't drag on too long. "Ideally, I'd like for him to be ready to go when we play San Diego," Frazier said on ESPN 1000 radio. "That would be the ideal situation. We've got our Matt Ryan, we've got our (Joe) Flacco, we've got our (Mark) Sanchez right here. But because of the uncertainty of the offseason, it's just hard to determine exactly how you want to approach it. So, we need a little more clarity on what this offseason's going to be like."
