While this year's draft class will be expected to contribute right away, the Chargers also are banking on heavy contributions from their Class of 2010. Last season's rookies did not meet expectations, with only one of the six players taken by the team — first-round RB Ryan Mathews — suiting up for more than six games. Mathews showed some of his potential late in the season and is penciled in as San Diego's first-string running back, but he is far from the only contributor expected from the group. ILB Donald Butler, a third-round pick, tore his Achilles in the preseason last season, and fourth-round SS Darrell Stuckey played in only one game after missing time in camp and falling behind. The team is high on both players and extended playing time in '11 could be needed from each, especially given the major questions at those positions in regards to free agency. The only other member of the class still on the roster, fifth-round NT Cam Thomas, is raw but will contribute occasionally.
