Bills top draft pick Marcell Dareus flew to Buffalo to work out with his new teammates, arriving Wednesday for a session at a suburban sports complex that included 30-plus Bills players.

Dareus, the third overall pick in April's draft, was not allowed to participate in any on-field work because of the risk of injury. However, he lifted weights and stretched with fellow rookies Kelvin Sheppard and Da'Norris Searcy, who have been at the sessions since Monday.

Projected to be a defensive end in the Bills' 3-4 scheme, Dareus picked the brains of veteran D-linemen Dwan Edwards and Spencer Johnson.

Dareus would have arrived sooner if he wasn't committed to joining his fellow top prospects in Los Angeles for the NFLPA's Rookie Premiere events, which ran through Sunday. He's staying with safety George Wilson, the Bills' union representative.

He is expected to participate in the players' final session Thursday before heading to Atlanta, where he is working out during the lockout.
