The Champion sports apparel company dropped Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall as one of its endorsers after his controversial tweets following the death of Osama Bin Laden.

The company said it is "ending our business relationship" and it doesn't think Mendenhall "can appropriately represent Champion."

According to USA Today, Champion is refusing to pay out the balance of Mendenhall's endorsement contract that runs through 2015.

In tweets earlier this week, Mendenhall expressed his disappointment with those who celebrated bin Laden's death as well as skepticism about what really happened on 9/11. Mendenhall responded to the controversy with a blog post on Thursday, clarifying his tweets.
