It never has been a secret that the Raiders love fast players, and once again, the team loaded up on speedsters in the NFL draft. In the third round, Oakland picked the fastest player from the NFL Scouting Combine, Miami (Fla.) CB DeMarcus Van Dyke, who ran the 40-yard dash in a time of 4.29 seconds in Indianapolis. Van Dyke should be an obvious contributor on special teams, but also expect to see the man known as "DVD" making an instant impact in the Raiders' secondary. CB Nnamdi Asomugha is an unrestricted free agent who's expected to sign elsewhere, meaning snaps will be available. Van Dyke, along with fourth-round pick CB Chimdi Chekwa, should be able to compete for immediate playing time in the team's man-to-man defense. Chris Johnson and Stanford Routt currently are pegged atop the depth chart at cornerback, but Van Dyke, who has good cover skills to go along with the breakneck speed, is a likely candidate to be the team's nickel back.
