Browns RB Peyton Hillis will be on the cover of EA Sports' "Madden NFL 12" after winning a head-to-head vote against Eagles QB Michael Vick.
Hillis is the first Cleveland player to ever grace the cover of the game, which has been in development every year since 1988. He won a bracket-style competition against players from all 31 other teams, with the final vote taking place against Vick. Nearly 13 million votes were cast in the entire tournament, which was organized by ESPN, to determine the cover player.
In 2010, Hillis' first with the Browns, the running back gained 1,177 rushing yards and scored 11 touchdowns.
The way we see it
Cleveland fans are seen as some of the most dedicated in the NFL, and this vote is further proof of that. The news might end up being bittersweet, however. Many people consider the Madden cover to be a curse, as several players who have been on the cover in past years were injured during the season they received the honor.
