Ravens FS Tom Zbikowski had been suspended from boxing for failing a drug test, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. But Zbikowski's second test was negative for THC, the Sun-Times reported, and his suspension will be lifted soon.
Zbikowski's test came following his fight last Saturday at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma; he was one of five boxers fighting at the casino last weekend who failed the test.
Zbikowski's manager, Chicago-area lawyer and boxing coach Mike Joyce, told the Sun-Times that his client was scheduled to get a second test later Tuesday and was confident it would be negative.
"We're appealing it," Joyce said. "After the fight, all the fighters tested were positive. They had you pee in a cup and put a strip of something in there. I've never seen results where you get them the day of the fight. It was like a home pregnancy test or something." If he failed the second test, Zbikowski would have been suspended from fighting for 45 days.
The Baltimore safety allegedly tested positive for marijuana. He won his fight last week in a first-round knockout, improving to 4-0 as a pro. His next fight was scheduled to be in Cabazon, Calif., on May 21, and again on June 4 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
