Some in the media called for the Buccaneers to cut CB Aqib Talib in the immediate aftermath of a March 21 incident that resulted in Talib being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly fired a gun at his sister's boyfriend. Aside from a brief statement from GM Mark Dominik, who said the team was deeply troubled by the serious charges, the Bucs have been quiet on the matter. Talib is said to be preparing a vigorous defense in the case. We hear the team hasn't made any decision about his future, and Tampa Bay will not be able to make moves with any players until the lockout is lifted.
Talib, who came into the league with character concerns, is no stranger to getting into trouble. He was suspended for the first game of last season for violating the league's personal-conduct policy after being arrested for assaulting a cab driver and his quick temper is a concern for the Bucs. However, with 15 interceptions in three seasons, he's one of their top young players and is signed through the 2012 season.
