Patriots TE Alge Crumpler underwent shoulder surgery in late January, according to Shalise Young of the Boston Globe.

The surgery was to repair a "significant" injury to the joint and Crumpler is currently rehabbing his shoulder.

The veteran helped mentor standout rookie TEs Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski in 2010. Crumpler had six catches and two touchdowns and was one of the team's top run blockers.
