While the Dolphins likely will draft an offensive guard, they could have a solution for their interior line struggles in the form of Nate Garner. The fourth-year player missed all of 2010 with a foot injury after starting eight games and playing in all 16 in 2009. The way we hear it, the Dolphins' O-line was at its best in training camp with Garner at left guard, and he could have started over Richie Incognito. Rookie John Jerry struggled on the right side, as did Joe Berger at center. Incognito received a three-year contract extension and should beat out Berger, if given the opportunity, and that would allow Garner to take over at left guard. In 2010, the Dolphins' running game was 28th in the league rushing up the middle and 26th off left guard, a big drop-off from 2009 when they were fourth in the NFL in rushing, including 13th up the middle and 11th off left guard. Garner might not be a long-term solution starting at guard, but, along with Incognito switching positions, it should be an improvement.
