But even though daily team observers agree the Rams’ most glaring need is a pass catcher who can stretch the field, they say it would hardly be a stretch if the team went in another direction and opted for one of the many quality defensive ends expected to still be on the board at No. 14. “There are many who look at the great jobs James Hall and Chris Long did last year and wonder why they would consider an end in the first round,” said one team insider. “But Hall is 35 years old, and Spags (head coach Steve Spagnuolo) just loves versatile ends. With the way C.J. Ah You tailed off last season, the Rams really don’t have a solid third end.”
