Broncos CB Perrish Cox was denied in his request to have his upcoming preliminary hearing on two felony charges of sexual assault closed to the media and the public.
Cox wanted the hearing to be in secret, and The Denver Post, The Associated Press and the New York Times opposed the move.
Cox's agent, Harvey A. Steinberg, argued that allowing the public and media into the preliminary hearing would affect Cox's right to a fair trial.
If convicted, Cox could face between two years and life in prison. In his rookie season, Cox recorded 54 tackles and an interception.
