The Chiefs have assigned tenders to DE Wallace Gilberry, CB Brandon Carr and OT Barry Richardson.
Carr, who was assigned a first-round tender, started all 16 games for Kansas City last season. He recorded 57 tackles, defended 25 passes and had one interception.
Gilberry and Richardson both received second-round tenders.
Gilberry ranked second on the team with seven sacks in 2010, and Richardson started every game at right tackle.
The way we see it
Carr emerged as a very solid corner last season and is someone the Chiefs would ultimately like to get locked up long term. Gilberry, meanwhile, was a pleasant surprise as a situational pass rusher and should continue in that role. Richardson will be retained in case Kansas City can't find a better option at right tackle either through the draft or free agency.
