The Patriots tendered RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis at a second-round level, his agent Roosevelt Barnes told PFW correspondent and Boston Herald writer Ian Rapoport.
Green-Ellis hast just three accrued season, so he would likely be a restricted free agent under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Green-Ellis, nicknamed "The Law Firm," had a breakout season as the Pats' primary back in 2010, rushing for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The way we see it
Again, like with all these tender offers, it's unclear what it will mean in a new CBA. For Green-Ellis, this tender shows his value to the team, as he was an undrafted player getting a tender at the second-round pick level. Expect the Patriots to still draft another back to complement him, but he should be the starter in 2011.
