The Dolphins are trying to keep third-string QB Tyler Thigpen, placing a one-year tender on him, according to PFW correspondent and Sun-Sentinel writer Omar Kelly.

Thigpen is a fifth-year pro whose status is uncertain as we await a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The tender could mean nothing if Thigpen is unrestricted in the new CBA.

Thigpen started one game this season and threw two TDs and two picks. He started 11 games for the Chiefs in 2008.

The way we see it

It's hard to look too closely at this tender, as Thigpen will likely be unrestricted in a new agreement. But, if no CBA is reached and free agency doesn't exist for 2011, the Dolphins will keep one of the better third-stringers in the league, helping depth at the position.
