Dolphins NT Paul Soliai signed his franchise tender Saturday, a one-year deal worth around $12.5 million. According to his agent, David Canter, Soliai will receive the highest-ever one-year salary for a Dolphins defensive player.
Soliai received the tag on Thursday, just before the window to franchise players closed. His 2010 contract was less than $500,000.
The nose tackle in the Dolphins' 3-4 defense, Soliai had a career year, starting 14 games, recording 39 tackles and two sacks. Canter has maintained that Soliai wishes to stay in Miami and sign a long-term deal.
