The 49ers named Greg Jackson the team's assistant secondary coach on Thursday.

Jackson spent the past eight seasons coaching in the collegiate ranks, most recently working as the nickel back/assistant linebackers coach last season at the University of Wisconsin.

Jackson played in the NFL for 12 seasons and was a teammate of new 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh during Jackson's final two seasons with the Chargers.
