The Bears announced Wednesday that they have extended offensive line coach Mike Tice's contract one year. Tice, who joined head coach Lovie Smith's staff before last season, is now signed through 2012.

The extension comes days after Chicago denied the Titans' request to interview Tice to fill their vacancy at offensive coordinator.

The Bears also announced assistants Tim Spencer (running backs), Bob Babich (linebackers) and Jon Hoke (secondary) have re-signed with the team.

The way we see it

Barring any other changes, the Bears' coaching staff will return almost entirely intact in 2011. There was only one departure on the staff — defensive line coach Eric Washington was replaced by Mike Phair.

There was some concern about how Tice would react to not being given a chance to move up the coaching ladder, but he's saying all the right things at this point and appears to be happy with his position.
