As expected, the Steelers will place a franchise tag on LOLB LaMarr Woodley, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Woodley said during Super Bowl week that he fully expected to get the tag. The league average for his position should result in Woodley getting paid more than $10 million for 2011.
Like the other players franchised since the window to tag players opened this week, the Steelers will use the designation to help create a long-term deal for Woodley.
Woodley, 26, had 10 sacks in 2010, giving him 39 in his career.
