A report by Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington, D.C., said that ex-Browns NT Shaun Rogers is scheduled to meet with the Redskins Friday.
Rogers, a 10-year veteran, was cut by the Browns on Wednesday. The three-time Pro Bowler spent his first seven seasons with the Lions before playing with the Browns from 2008-10. He had 17 tackles and two sacks in 15 games last season, with only one start.
For his career, he has 482 tackles, 37½ sacks and four forced fumbles.
The way we see it
At one time, Rogers was a very productive player, but in recent seasons he has shown only flashes of his Pro Bowl past.
With the Redskins committed to a 3-4 defensive scheme and looking to move past the Albert Haynesworth era, it makes sense that they would be interested in a proven commodity at the crucial NT position. However, it remains to be seen how much Rogers, who turns 32 in March, still has left in the tank, and, more importantly, how motivated he will be.
