Packers DE Johnny Jolly, who was suspended for the 2010 season, has applied for reinstatement, his agent told the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Jolly's agent, Brian Overstreet, said that he was optimistic Jerry would be reinstated. The fifth-year veteran was suspended indefinitely without pay in July for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He is facing drug charges in Houston following a July 2008 arrest for possession of at least 200 grams of codeine.

Jolly started all 16 games in 2008 and 2009. He has 17 career passes defensed and two sacks. The Packers won the Super Bowl without Jolly this season, and the defensive end is still under contract with Green Bay.

"They've been very supportive of him this whole ride," Overstreet said.
