The Eagles announced late Friday that they have signed CFL star DE Phillip Hunt to a three-year deal.
Hunt, a 6-0, 248-pounder, totaled 19 sacks over the past two seasons for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL, including a league-leading 16 in 2010. He was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns as a rookie free agent in 2009.
A four-year letterman at the University of Houston, Hunt, 25, finished his career as the school's all-time leader in sacks (34) while earning all-conference selections in three consecutive seasons from 2006-08.
The deadline for CFL players to move to the NFL is Feb. 15.
The way we see it
The Eagles are likely hoping to find the next Cameron Wake, who was a two-time CFL Player of the Year. Wake finished third in the league in sacks this season with 14 in just his second season with the Dolphins.
