Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, who just finished his rookie season, tore his Achilles tendon during an offseason workout in Atlanta and is expected to be out 6-8 months.

During his rookie campaign, Thomas battled through multiple injuries, including a sprained ankle that kept him out the final five games of the sesaon.

The first-round pick had 22 catches for 283 yards and two TDs. He also averaged 24.9 yards per kick return with a long of 64 yards.

"I have no doubt that Demaryius will overcome this setback," said head coach John Fox. "He's proven he can handle adversity and will get through this. We look forward to getting Demaryius back on the field as soon as possible."

Broncos WR Eddie Royal had hip surgery last week that could keep him out until the summer.

The way we see it

This is more bad luck for Thomas who came to Denver with high expectations. He showed he can be an electric receiver, but he couldn't stay healthy, and it will be a while until the Broncos can get him at 100 percent in an already thin receiving corps.
