Saints head coach Sean Payton is catching heat, including from Saints fans, for buying a home in Dallas, where Payton has ties from his time as an assistant on the Cowboys' staff. One year after being celebrated as the first head coach to lead the Saints to a title, the Dallas decision has led some to question Payton's commitment to New Orleans and his allegiance to the Saints. A false rumor over the weekend that he was leaving the team to become the Cowboys' general manager didn't help in that regard. A spokesperson for Payton's foundation pointed out that the Paytons will keep a residence in New Orleans as well, but there is a perception that Payton, who has a good relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, would like to return to the Cowboys' organization in some capacity down the line. It appears, however, that family, not professional aspirations, was behind the decision to buy the Dallas home.
