Former Raiders LB Greg Biekert has been hired as the team's linebackers coach.

Biekert, who played in the NFL from 1993-2003, is a longtime member of the Raiders' organization. He was on the team for the first nine years of his career and was the team's defensive assistant in 2010.

"I'm excited to reconnect with one of the true and great Raiders," head coach Hue Jackson said in a statement. "His vision and mine are right in line with each other."

The way we see it

One of Biekert's main tasks will be working with 2010 rookie Rolando McClain, who had a solid first season, but will be asked to improve as he becomes the centerpiece of the Oakland defense. Few players know the MLB spot better than Biekert, so expect improvement out of McClain next season.
